Child or Pet Locked Inside? Call 911 First

If a child or pet is stuck inside a car, especially on a hot day, call 911 right now. Don't wait for a locksmith. A closed car in the Florida sun heats up fast.

Give the operator your exact location and do what they tell you. Once help is on the way, you can call us too.

Common Car Lockouts

Keys on the seat

The classic one. You shut the door, it locks, and the keys are sitting right there on the seat. Call us with the year, make and model and where you are, and we'll come open it.

Keys in the trunk

You dropped the keys in the trunk with the groceries and closed the lid. Tell us whether the doors are still unlocked and whether your car has a fold-down back seat or a trunk release inside. That helps us figure out the best way in.

Push-to-start car still running

The engine's on, the fob is inside, and the doors are locked. Tell us right away that the car is running and where the fob is. If it's running inside a closed garage, open the garage door and get out of there. Exhaust fumes build up quickly.

Keys are gone

If you can't find your keys at all, opening the door won't fix the problem. You'll need a new key. We can usually take care of that too, once we've checked that the car is yours.

What Happens When We Get There

  1. We find your car.

Give us the street address, the parking level, or a landmark nearby. Let us know about gates, codes or anything else that could slow us down.

  2. We check your ID.

We'll ask for your photo ID and something that shows the car is yours or that you're allowed to use it. Have it ready if you can.

  3. We look at the car.

Every car is different. We check how yours locks before choosing how to get in.

  4. We open it.

We use tools made for opening cars without damaging the locks, paint, window seals or interior.

  5. You get your keys.

Once you're in, grab your keys and check that everything is OK. If the keys aren't in there after all, we can talk about making you a new one.

What We Ask For

We won't open a car unless we know it's yours, or that you're allowed to drive it. That protects you, too. Usually that means:

  • A valid photo ID, such as a Florida driver license, state ID or passport
  • Your vehicle registration or title, in your name or showing you're allowed to drive the car
  • For a company or rental car, something showing you're authorized to use it

Registration locked inside the car? That's common, since a lot of people keep it in the glove box. Tell us when you call and we'll explain what else works. A current insurance card, a lease or rental agreement, or a registration you can pull up on your phone usually works too, as long as the name matches your photo ID. If the car is parked nearby, we may also match the VIN on the dashboard to your paperwork. If we still can't confirm the car is yours, we can't open it.

What Affects the Price

  • Time of day. We're open 7 AM to 10 PM, every day, and weekends are priced the same as weekdays. We'll tell you the price before we head out.
  • Where you are. Lake Worth Beach and nearby areas like Lantana, Palm Springs and Greenacres are short runs for us. A travel charge may apply for longer drives, such as Delray Beach or Boca Raton. We'll include any travel charge in the total we quote you.
  • Your car. Some cars have tougher locks or alarm systems that take more time.
  • What kind of lockout. A locked door is usually quicker than a locked trunk or a running car.

You'll get the full price before we head out, so there are no surprises when we arrive.

Car Lockout FAQs

Will you damage my car?

We use proper tools and go carefully, so most cars open without a scratch. That said, nobody can promise zero risk on every car. Older or already damaged locks, for example, can be fragile. If we see a problem, we'll tell you before we start.

Should I call roadside assistance instead?

If your insurance, car warranty or a roadside plan covers lockouts, it's worth checking how long they'll take. If they're slow, or you don't have coverage, call us and compare the wait and the price.

Can you open the trunk without opening the doors?

Sometimes. It depends on the car. Some have trunk releases or fold-down seats we can use, and some don't. Tell us about your car when you call.

What if my keys are lost, not locked inside?

Then you need a new key, not just a lockout service. Call us with the year, make and model and where the car is. You'll need to show that the car is yours, and then we'll tell you whether we can make you a new key on the spot.
